WOW: Creative Park
If you enjoy paper crafts, printing your own cards, and/or scrapbooking and you have an inkjet printer, check out Canon’s Creative Park. It’s a fun site full of projects you can print out and use at home. From greeting cards to envelopes and stationery to 3-D paper crafts to calendars, there’s a lot here to explore and print. There’s also a digital photo gallery where you can download quality photos to use. Even if you own a bubble jet printer, there’s a link for crafty ideas using one of those, too.
Enjoy!

Mr. Darcy. Pride and Prejudice’s FitzWilliam Darcy is aloof, but he feels deeply. If he loves you, he’s made up his mind for good, though you may not have noticed that that’s how he feels. He is, of course, rather too convinced of his own worth and tends towards snobbery, but he has a good heart and will marry you despite what his relations might think.

BTT: Vocabulary
I’ve always wondered what other people do when they come across a word/phrase that they’ve never heard before. I mean, do they jot it down on paper so they can look it up later, or do they stop reading to look it up on the dictionary/google it or do they just continue reading and forget about the word?
It all depends on the book. If I’m totally engrossed in it, I won’t take the time to stop to get the definition; I’ll just make a mental note and look it up later. Sometimes, if I want a quick answer, I’ll ask my husband what something means, because honestly, he’s much better at definitions than I am (although I am the better speller). There are times I’ve stopped reading to look a word up, but it usually depends on how badly I need to know the definition for the book to make sense or how slow of a read for me it is.

Once again I’m a day late, but better late than never, right? My Word Out Wednesday topic is the free Food & Family Magazine offered by Kraft Foods. Just for signing up on their site, you can get the magazine sent to your mailbox with a zero cost to you, and it’s always full of ideas for the kitchen. Of course, they promote their products, but they’re easily substituted. I’ve been getting this magazine for several years, and I’ve made several of their recipes over time. I’m not disappointed with it, and for the price, it’s really not a bad food magazine.
Meme: How fast are you?
I saw this on yarns and musings blog and decided I just had to give it a go:
This was actually my third try. The first one I got 55 with a couple of errors but I hit “enter” at first instead of “space” and it messed up my screen. Then the second try gave me 71 words with two errors. Third try: as seen above with no errors. Woot.
How fast are you?

- Pick up the nearest book. (I’m sure you must have one nearby.)
- Turn to page 123.
- What is the first sentence on the page?
- The last sentence on the page? *
- Now . . . connect them together…
(And no, you may not transcribe the entire page of the book–that’s cheating!)
From Passion: A Novel of the Romantic Poets by Jude Morgan, with my connecting writing in between.
“He is kind and loves us all,” Franny put in quietly, “and I think that’s all that matters.”
I nodded in agreement. It was true. Even if he didn’t believe in God, he did believe in us. That had to count for something. I faded into my thoughts of this man and how he could be so wonderful, yet have no belief system beyond the stars. Then, as if my mind was being read, I was brought back to reality with the continuing conversation.
Fanny, her heavy cheeks glowing, said tentatively, “It’s a pity about the atheism.”

- When somebody mentions “literature,” what’s the first thing you think of? (Dickens? Tolstoy? Shakespeare?)
- Do you read “literature” (however you define it) for pleasure? Or is it something that you read only when you must?
When someone mentions the word “literature”, I automatically think of high school and college reading-type classes since that’s what they were called back then. (Makes me sound old, but I’ve been out of high school a couple of decades.) I wouldn’t say that I read literature anymore. I may read chick lit or historical lit, but I don’t ever call it “literature”. To me, that’s something I must read, whether I want to or not.

Wondermommy has come up with a great meme for getting the word out about something you really like and want to share with others. It can be anything from a great book to a good recipe to an interesting blog. This is my first time participating, but I really like the concept, so I’m sure I’ll try to get in the habit of doing it on a weekly basis.
.For this week’s WOW, I’d like to mention the fun crochet-along started by June of PlanetJune. Every two months or so, a theme is decided upon and those who wish to participate can post their projects that go along with that particular theme. The current theme is “Small Crochet”, and June writes, “Feel free to interpret this any way you wish; the only ‘rule’ is that the finished items should be under about 6 inches (or 15cm - thanks Eve!) in size. The idea is to make small items that will provide some of that ‘instant gratification’ feeling.”
So if you haven’t joined us already, hop on over to the blog, read the Join & Rules section, and get started posting.
Happy Small Crocheting!

I’ve been tagged by Gina over at Crochet Creations for the Seven Things Meme. I did this meme awhile back, so instead of coming up with seven new things about myself, I’m just going to link to the answer I already have. Yeah, I know, it’s not much fun that way, but I’m still waking up and I’m not much fun yet today.
Tag - I’m It! <- Click to read my answers.
I do need to update #4, however. It seems my yarn stash is much bigger than I thought, and it has only grown since I did this meme last September. My books have grown, too, but nothing like the rate of the yarn. You’d think there were bunnies in those bins!
And instead of tagging 7 new people (or several of the same who didn’t participate last time I tagged them), I’m just going to tag everyone who reads this and hasn’t already done this meme.
Enjoy!

As seen on a lot of other blogs already:

What Tracie Means |
![]() You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You’re most comfortable when you’re far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble. You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You’re always up to something. You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection. You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing. You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. |
Hmm, some of it is right on, some isn’t, but I’ll leave it up to others to figure that out. I just want to know why it didn’t mention “crochet madwoman” or “stasher of yarn and buttons”…
